Creating Chats (Local or Cloud)
Knowledgebase
Chats are collections of documents you can ask questions of.
To create a chat:
1. Click "Add New Chat"
2a. On Desktop, decide whether you want to create a Local chat or Cloud chat. Compare Local vs. Cloud here.
2b. On Web, you can only create Cloud chats.
3. Select Files
There are 4 ways to add a document to a chat:
- Upload directly from hard drive
- You can drag a folder onto it, and all compatible files inside will automatically be added to the chat.
- You can select multiple files and drag it onto the box.
- Enter in a URL
- This will attempt to crawl the URL (make sure the URL is public), print it to PDF, and add it to the chat.
- Dropbox Integration
- Google Drive Integration
- If the document is a Google Workspace document (Google Doc or Google Sheet), Google imposes a 10MB file limit.
- If the document is a non-Google Workspace document (e.g., a PDF), standard Socrates file limits apply.
4. Train on the selected files
- Please wait for Socrates to process all the files. This may take a few minutes if many files are uploaded, or up to a few hours if our systems are under heavy load. The wait is worth it!
